Stupid quote: a quote ripped out of context.

Ideas are commodity. Execution of them is not.
- Michael DellMeans any quote.

Wanna proof? Putting the name of Michael Dell under the bubble cannot return the saying to the context. Out of the context it's just wrong!  Ideas from those who have an ability to execute them are a commodity!  This is how it should sound and it was in the right context.

Don't believe me believe Dr. Rob Adams:
First of all, ideas are commodities. Look at any industry, any product or service offering, and what you really see is improvement on the existing standard versus uniqueness in the offering. These improvements can be continuous or disruptive, but in either category, to the customer they are nothing more than incremental improvement around the financial return, usability, quality, or experience of your competitor. This explains why management teams are so important; if new offerings are commodities it's execution by the management team – what I like to callexecution intelligence – that makes the difference in the market.

Read the full article "Ideas Are a Commodity, It's Execution Intelligence That Matters" on +Inc. where +Dell is brought as an example of this.

Why nobody can help your to defeat your procrastination?

No x-steps annoying articles, no fat-inspirational-so-called-"books" will help!
I know why and I'm not going to write a long post for saying this:

Nobody except you can grab your balls!

Reasons? Well, if you really need it:

You internal urge/need is called internal or immanent for a reason.
Only you know how to grab... yeah.
No other guy experience will be helpful to you before you actually grab... ok, ok, ok.. because the driver here is your pure will, not the knowledge of it.
Most of procrastination defeating "methodologies" are based on stick-and-carrot paradigm, but your carrot's size... and color are as unique as your grabbing techniques, see point .
There is no one size / one complexity / one sequence algorithm (this is why procrastination sounds like Procrustes so much... having no relation though) - you have to variate and to be  creative  to win!

So grab... and then promise that you've done with reading steps-articles and develop your own very effective and utterly unique strategy, implement it and become productive! :)

P.S. If you need help though... the advice is the same: find yourself a  coach!

The Spaghetti sauce

This is also applicable to the World of Technology. Cause there is no median. Neither in UI/UX nor in customer<-->(brand)solution relations. One loves to be told what he likes and another one loves to be left alone with uncertainty of scattered LEGO pieces and to build its own experience. And there're more kinds between those two.

So there is no fight between the approaches. Apple cannot beat Google and vice versa. They both add to the maximum satisfaction of a customer. They maximize it. For all the customers. And more parts (segments) we can cut this pie more satisfaction we will bring to any customer and to all of customers.

To conclude my inspired thought, find you piece of the pie and work for it, you can't be wrong in that!

P.S. Also, I recommend to get to know the author. He is a true visioneer.

"Malcolm Gladwell has been a staff writer with The New Yorker magazine since 1996. His 1999 profile of Ron Popeil won a National Magazine Award, and in 2005 he was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People. He is the author of four books, "The Tipping Point: How Little Things Make a Big Difference," (2000) , "Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking" (2005), and "Outliers: The Story of Success" (2008) all of which were number one New York Times bestsellers. His latest book, "What the Dog Saw" (2009) is a compilation of stories published inThe New Yorker.

From 1987 to 1996, he was a reporter with the Washington Post, where he covered business, science, and then served as the newspaper's New York City bureau chief. He graduated from the University of Toronto, Trinity College, with a degree in history. He was born in England, grew up in rural Ontario, and now lives in New York City." Assemble the World

"My notes have a curious tendency, as I realize at last, to annihilate all they purport to record."

This is an interesting case of talkin' 'bout not what you're thinking. Have you noticed it? The bigger things (much bigger than the things he's talking about) are standing up behind his back. Even the words are hiding the real picture. They are more like a wrapping paper for the thoughts… not thoughts... purports.

What I hear is "get things out of their symbolical cage, out of commonly acceptable pattern, out of wrapper, watch them naked, see them, then wrap them in your coat, bring them home, and when they've been warmed enough reassemble them in the way only you can do. And that what real creativity is".

In short less you know more you understand easier you play G-d.

BTW, go to the man's site!

This was the first post on my blog. Join the bicycle ride of thoughts, I guess!
